覺醒的力量很強大。人在普通的時候都處於一種慣性的生活狀態,你的大腦很聰明,它會告訴你最省力的生活方式,人們在不知不覺中就生活在自己沒認知到、沒意識到的潛規則裡。例如,選擇這間超商比較方便、這間餐廳永遠比其他間好吃。這些都無傷大雅;但如果你習慣睡前就是要滑手機、躺在沙發上總比散步運動來得輕鬆……你的人生就在無意識中被卡住了,卡在自己都無法察覺的框架之中。

The power of awakening is strong. People are in a habitual state of life in ordinary times. Your brain is a genius, who tells you the most labor-saving way of life. People live in unspoken rules they do not recognize or realize without knowing. For example, there are always closer convenience stores and better restaurants. None of these hurts, but if you look at your phone before bed every day or think it is easier to lie on the couch than to take a walk, you're stuck unconsciously, stuck in a restriction you don't even notice.

但對於現代人來說,我們不必每天面對這樣的環境威脅,與其說我們要想辦法存活下去,不如說我們應該要試圖「活得更好」才是。所以,依照習慣而活永遠不足,我們需要的是一點小冒險,這個小冒險包含認知的覺醒,以及行為的改變。你可曾想過:「我真正想要的是什麼?」「我應該做什麼才可以活得更好?」有這樣的認知,代表你已經和大多數的人不同,改變開始在你身上逐漸產生,覺醒的力量已從你內心迸發而出!

But for modern people, we don't have to face such environmental threats every day. Rather than trying to survive, we should try to "live better". 選擇一兩項平常不太會做,但有益身心的挑戰:害羞的你,可以試著向陌生人打個招呼,給同事多點正面的回饋;不愛運動的你,可以早個一兩站下車散步,或是在假日爬個山、踏個青。你會發現,不但生活中多了一點樂趣,還能看到平時不可能看到的事物,並成為你日後人生的養分,進而發掘全新的事物。

Choose one or two challenges that you don't usually do but are good for your body and mind. For example, try to say hello to strangers and give your colleagues more positive feedback if you are shy; If you don't like to exercise, when taking public transportation, you can get off two stops early and walk to your destination, or climb a mountain or go for a walk on a holiday. You will find that you will not only have a little more fun in your life, but you will also be able to see things that are impossible to see at ordinary times, which will become the nutrients of your life in the future, and then discover new things.

 

這就是覺醒的好處。很神奇嗎?一點都不,甚至是很自然的事情,覺醒可以在任何時間、任何地點發生,而且永遠也不嫌晚!它可以是很隨意,同時又是很嚴肅的問題:因為改變可以小到微乎其微,大則可能從此改變你的人生。就看你怎麼個覺醒法。常問自己:「什麼才是我真心喜歡的事物?」「做什麼事對我來說最有意義?」覺醒總在深刻思考後,但也不要忘了身體力行,才能做出改變。
